Food. Everyone wants it, everyone needs it, but not everyone can get it. 

In the Sixth World, food is more than just a basic need, it’s a commodity to be properly packaged, marketed, and most importantly controlled. Wars have broken out over how much food is made available for the masses, and is often used as leverage at the highest levels of negotiation between corporations, nations, and other organizations. It’s big business, with billions of nuyen at stake. And with any industry with that much on the line, there are always ways for creative, entrepreneurial individuals to make their mark in the darker aspects of the business. 

More than that, food is also has greater meaning than sustenance. It some cases it’s a symbol, a vital part of identity; what you eat and where you eat it says as much about a person as the clothes the wear and the gear they use. It can also be a powerful motivator, as a good meal can bring people together in and build communities in ways even the megacorporations can’t touch.
